If you can think ahead past Chrismas, then this spring picture of a Suffolk cottage with mauve clematis and foxgloves might help during these colder months. I have taken inspiration for this series from the landscape in the county of Suffolk where I live. In all of the pictures, your eye is drawn through vibrant blooms that lead you into lush grasses in the mid ground and on to a charming cottage in the background.
Although the palette contains 40 colours, the design itself is fairly easy to stitch as there are only whole cross stitches and just a few backstitch for the finer detail. The French knots around the cottage add texture and colour but beads could be used instead.
All of the designs would make great cushions and for those of you that prefer needlepoint this series would be ideal projects for wool on canvas.
Find this design in the latest issue of GOLD magazin, 117.
