With its scarlet leaves and distinctive centres, the poppy is both a summer beauty and a favourite in cross stitch. These bold blooms really have a wow factor I hope you won't be able to resist! The flowers in the left - hand picture are to be found in the latest edition of The World of Cross Stitching, issue 220. These delicate flowers are worthy of a close - up as the delicate, long stitch seed head centres and the different shades of the tissue - like petals, from light pink to deep raspberry and orange, contrast beautifully with the lime green stems.
