I'm really excited about a brand new cottage series that is starting in this issue of Cross Stitch GOLD magazine 116. The landscapes show lovely country cottages that I find on my walks with my labrador, Webley, around the Suffolk contryside near my home. Webs is 11 now so we go at a slower pace, which is fine, as it gives me chance to sketch and he can have a rest.
The landscapes may be different in style to those you are used to seeing but they are based on my actual paintings. In these it is the stronger colours and simple shapes that I love to work with, except for more details in the foreground where I can introduce the flowers that I love to draw and paint.
The flowers in each picture will represent the season, so for this design I chose hardy cyclamen and hellebores (known as Christmas roses) that bring a splash of colour to this lovely snowy scene.
