Floral Christmas stocking

6th Sep 2013

I was thrilled when Medina, the lovely editor for GOLD, asked me to design a floral stocking for the start of the Christmas issues. I love flowers as you know, so I was thrilled to be asked to design it. It gave me the excuse to create some big, bold blooms! The pattern has a vintage feel, so 'right' for now and similar to the kind you'd see on an old needlepoint cushion. It also proves that Christmas designs needn't be covered in snow. This floral stocking is one of my favourite projects and the design is really easy to stitch on red fabric as you don’t need to complete the background. There's no back stitches either and the only fractionals are in the spots to keep them round, so I'm confident that an intermediate stitcher could achieve a really fantastic finish.

It's definitely a girly one, so I hope you'll know plenty of female friends for this one or perhaps like me – keep it for myself.
